What is pneumonia?
Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs due to bacteria, virus, and fungi and it can be a mild to severe infection that patient has to go to the hospital.
Types of Pneumonia:
There are 4 types of Pneumonia and all these are classifieds as per their symptoms:
- HAP- Hospital-acquired pneumonia- HAP pneumonia is acquired during a hospital stay. It can be more serious than other types of pneumonia, in this type of pneumonia, bacteria are more resistant to antibiotics.
- CAP- Community-acquired pneumonia- CAP pneumonia is acquired outside of a medical or institutional community.
- VAP- Ventilator-associated pneumonia– Sometimes patients who are using a ventilator get pneumonia. Thatswhy it is called VAP pneumonia.
- Aspiration Pneumonia- This type of pneumonia due to Inhaling bacteria into your lungs from food, drink, or saliva.
Symptoms of Pneumonia:
Symptoms of pneumonia, you can confirm pneumonia as per mentioned below:
- Chest pain with cough
- Shortness of breath
- Changes in mental awareness in old ones aged 65 and above
- Cough with phlegm
- Fatigue
- Fever
- sweating
- shaking chills
- Lower than normal body temperature
- Nausea
- vomiting
- Diarrhea
